Hiking up Mt. Wellington / kunanyi.
This is the first of many Tasmania photo stories I'll be posting on the blog over the next couple of weeks.
The year without pause: 2015.
It's been five years since my first ever year-in-review post. I look forward to these every year, because it's another opportunity to reflect, and then take aim for the next 12 months and beyond.
Sophia.
On Saturday I spent an afternoon at the beach with my beautiful and talented friend, Sophia Mary Mac.
How a conversation can save a life.
A summer in The Philippines.
You don't need to be a photographer to know how easy it is for life to move on and for our personal photos to sit buried in our hard drives never to be seen again, so I'm relieved I can finally share some of these, because they're important to me.
Nobby Beach & Springbrook.
On Sunday, M & I left home early to meet my family at Nobby Beach for my father's birthday. It's been a little while since we've had a family day out (or in my case, a day out at all)—with my sister living interstate and me having moved out of home since 2012, opportunities to have a day like this are so rare.
A brief visit to Sydney.
Three weeks ago Martin and I escaped to Sydney for 4 days. I haven't been back since 2010, and have only been a handful of times since I've lived in Australia—Martin has probably only been once, and he was born in this country.
Beijing: Day 3.
We ended our last day in Beijing touring the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace. It was cloudy and a little icy, so much so that even droplets of water on the ground would freeze up.
Beijing: Day 2.
I've been looking forward to sharing this photo story with you: our day at none other than the Great Wall of China. Again, for some reason, The Great Wall was never high on my list of places to visit.
Beijing: Day 1.
We didn't arrive in Beijing until about 5:30pm. When we met our guide at the airport, he let us know that he had double-checked our hotel's address and drove past it, only to discover it had been closed for renovations for months.
Hong Kong: Day 3.
Our third and final day in Hong Kong was spent travelling to Ngong Ping, the little town on the mountain, via cable car.
Hong Kong: Day 1-2.
Finally, five weeks after coming home, I've finished editing photos from the Hong Kong & Beijing portions of my trip.
The year to explore: 2014.
Adventure; a thirst to be closer to nature; a ceaseless lust to see more of my city, my home, my world; saying yes to new things; exploring beyond what I believed I could do: all these things were my 2014.
Sun, sand and sea.
One of my favourite days, at some of my favourite places. Most of the photos below are from our afternoon at Fingal Head, a 40 minute drive north from Byron.
In My Element: Interview with Element Eden Australia.
Last Saturday I spent the afternoon with Mia, making coffee, chatting and taking photos of my space for an interview with Element Eden Australia.
Borneo Trek For Orangutans: Day 9-10.
In this last post, we travel from Putussibau to Pontianak, Pontianak to Jakarta, and Jakarta to Sydney before I finally fly back home to Brisbane in the early hours of Monday morning.
Borneo Trek For Orangutans: Day 8.
This post covers the very last Friday of our trip; our journey back to the cities. We travelled from Bukit Peninjau Wildlife Research Station back to Meliau longhouse to say goodbye to the villagers and wait for our boats back to Lanjak—but Borneo wasn't done surprising us yet.
Borneo Trek For Orangutans: Day 6-7.
Our last two days in the jungle would be spent at Bukit Peninjau Wildlife Research Station, about a half an hour boat ride from Meliau longhouse.
Borneo Trek For Orangutans: Day 5.
Today we would leave our beautiful campground in Betung Kerihun National Park for another day of travelling and little else.
Borneo Trek For Orangutans: Day 4.
On that Monday, we woke up in our beautiful jungle home. Our office would be the trees, and we didn't know it yet, but today we were going to have the best (and most challenging) fun ever.
